Sexual Vitality for Men: Cardiovascular Disease, Metabolic Syndrome and Diabetes

Many studies have shown an association between low testosterone levels and a higher prevalence of heart disease.  Lower testosterone levels are also associated with reduced pumping ability of the heart.

Growing research suggests that low testosterone levels may be intimately linked with insulin resistance and its related conditions of metabolic syndrome and diabetes.  Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors– high blood pressure, high blood sugar, unhealthy cholesterol levels and abdominal fat – that make heart disease and diabetes more likely.

Recent findings from the Third National Health and Nutrition Survey (NHANES III) demonstrated that men in the lowest bracket of testosterone levels were approximately four times more likely to develop diabetes.
